Come Play at the PlayGroup Meetup

Last Tuesday evening I went to a unique Playgroup meetup group organized by Reu Smith, which has as its goal, to do nothing more than PLAY! What a concept!

Eight of us showed up, ranging from age 10 to 46. We started off with a game of TAG. This game involves lots of running and was challenging from that respect, but once we got into the swing of things, everyone was running around and smiling. The spirit was one of fun and despite a wide range of running ability, everyone had a chance to be it and to be chased.

Next up was a game called VAMPIRE TAG, in which one person starts off as IT, and when the tag someone else, they are now both IT and chase the others until only one is it. We had lots of fun with this one. I started out as IT, and had fun running and flapping my arms like a bat as I stalked my prey. My motto was, “I like the big ones” and went after them with all I had. One by one they dropped. It was FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUNNNNNNN!

In order to give our legs a break, we played DUCK-DUCK-GOOSE next. This game is HARD! The kids there really taught us how to play by not being restricted to ducks and geese. There were cows, dogs, and you can use your imagination what else…

The evening was capped off with a side-splitting game of telephone. It is unbelievable how our phrases got distorted as they got whispered around our circle. Many did not want to stop, but it was getting dusk. Two days after the Playgroup meetup, I realized that I missed my playfriends and wanted to play with them again. this is a feeling that I have not had for many years. I can’t wait for the next one. Come join us!
