Pedal Powered Urban Adventure
It all started in Austin, TX in 2003 with 110 fun-loving adventurers. Today the Urban Assault Ride or UAR for short is the biggest bike scavenger hunt series in the world. It combines street-smart riding, crazy obstacle courses, and a huge after ride party into an event that’s as fun for the spectator as the competitors.
This year the event takes place in 10 US cities: Tucson, AZ – Nashville, TN – Seattle, WA – Portland, OR – Austin, TX – Fort Collins, CO – Denver, CO – St. Louis, MO – Chicago, IL and Minneapolis, MN with the next taking place July 19th right here in Fort Collins.
If you plan on participating here’s a list of required equipment:
1. A Bike: Each teammate needs their own bike – any bike will do as long as you’re comfortable riding the event distance on it. Tandems are welcome (1/team). The ideal bike would be a Cyclocross bike.
2. A Helmet: Helmets must be worn at all times during the event.
3. A Cellphone: 1 phone for each team – for emergencies and maybe for help in the event. ![]()
4. Water Bottles: We will have water and drinks available at most of the checkpoints, but you should plan to provide your own energy food and drink during the event. Don’t bonk or dehydrate out there!
5. Bike Repair: Should you get a flat or break a chain, be prepared to fix it. We’ll have a mechanic that can come out to help, but it could take them a while to get to you.
6. Plan of Attack: You are on your own when it comes to strategy. If you don’t know they city like the back of your hand, it’s advised that you bring a map with the checkpoints marked. No – we do not provide a map.
7. Dry clothes: You may get a little wet, so bring some dry clothes for the after party. We have lots of beer, food, music, and activities at the after party, so plan to hang around.
Volunteering is the next best way to be in the event. Your help as a volunteer for the Urban Assault Ride is always appreciated and all volunteers receive a cool shirt, food, and a great time! To volunteer, please contact: jackie@adventurefit.com
