Hula_Hoop_smRemember the Hula Hoop, Hacky Sack, and the Frisbee, if so you may also remember the company that marketed these wonderful toys as Wham-O.

Today we learned that Fort Collins based Sprig Toys is merging with Wham-O to offer a line of preschool products under the new Wham-O Jr. brand.

Under this agreement Wham-O gains access to Sprig’s Sprigwood material, which is a bio-composite made from reclaimed wood and recycled plastic and Sprig will be able to tap into Wham-O’s extensive supply-and-distribution chain, which means more of their products on more store shelves.

Sprig’s co-founders, David Bowen, Chris Clemmer and Justin Discoe, said, “We are thrilled to be a part of one of America’s most beloved toy companies. With Wham-O handling the sales, manufacturing and operations functions on a global level for the Sprig brand, we’ll be able to focus our efforts on our mission to make toys the right way.”

Sprig will be showcasing their 2010 product line at the American International Toy Fair in New York City on February 14th through the 17th. Highlights at the fair include Sprig’s new Eco-Trucks, a new line of Eco Blocks and totally new product lines targeted to girls and toddlers.
